Dumfries and Galloway Environment Fair
is an annual event aiming to bring together as many environmental organisations as possible to raise awareness
of environmental issues including waste prevention/minimisation and reuse/recycling/recovery. Environmental
organisations attending and visitor numbers to the event have grown steadily since 2002, with the 2007 event being hosted
by 52 organisations, providing environmental education for 1,950 members of the public.
Saturday 8th March 2008
In 2008 there was the usual mix of stalls providing displays and activities
on a wide range of environmental topics, under the banner of "learn, enjoy and get involved". One of the highlights
this year was the pupper show run by Graham Moffat of Dragonfly Dreaming. His show "That's Rubbish" followed the adventures
of Skiprat as he found out about our rubbish habits. The children then also had the opportunity to join a hands-on workshop
about puppeteering. A great success!
Next year the event will be held on Saturday 7th March 2009 at the
new DG1 Sport and Leisure Centre.
