ENVIRONMENT FAIR COMMUNITY DAY, 2pm – 7pm FRIDAY 4TH MARCH
ENVIRONMENT FAIR FAMILY
FUN DAY, 10am – 3.30pm SAT 5TH MARCH
DGONE LEISURE COMPLEX, DUMFRIES
Every year Solway Heritage coordinates the popular Dumfries and Galloway Environment Fair. This year there will be
two events: a Community Day held on Friday 4th March and the usual Family Fun Day on Saturday 5th March. Both events will
be held once again at DGOne in Dumfries.
The Community Day will provide the general public and community
groups with the opportunity to visit a wide range of displays and presentations ranging from waste and wildlife gardening
to composting and conservation. We are asking everyone to come along and take up the Waste Prevention Challenge, sign
up for the Unwanted Mail campaign, learn how to compost with the experts or just sit and listen to how you can reduce energy
use in your own home or set up a community conservation project.
We also have a great range of local organisations
on hand to help guide you towards environmental volunteering opportunities close to home, exploring your local area, spotting
interesting wildlife or even recording your local flora and fauna. Or if you are interested in wildlife gardening why
not have a look at how you can use willow in the garden or find out what to plant to attract the birds and bees!
Saturday event will be the usual mix of organisations providing lots of fun environmental activities and information for families.
Both events are free so no need to book. Funding for the two days is provided by Scottish Natural Heritage, Dumfries
and Galloway Council and the Scottish Government through the Increase III programme.
